What is CRPS/RSD ?

CRPS- Complex Regional Pain Syndrome


RSD- Reflex Sympathetic Dystrophy


CRPS/RSD has been around since the 1800s. Every couple of years they change the name which makes it harder for people to get diagnosed and  for doctors to know exactly what to call it.


Symptoms

*These are just a few symptoms it does not mean you do not have CRPS/RSD if you do not have all of these symptoms, Everybody's body is different and reacts differently*

  • Continuous burning or throbbing pain, usually in your arm, leg, hand or foot
  • Sensitivity to touch or cold
  • Swelling of the painful area
  • Changes in skin temperature — alternating between sweaty and cold
  • Changes in skin color, ranging from white and mottled to red or blue
  • Changes in skin texture, which may become tender, thin or shiny in the affected area
  • Changes in hair and nail growth
  • Joint stiffness, swelling and damage
  • Muscle spasms, tremors, weakness and loss (atrophy)
  • Decreased ability to move the affected body part,range of motion
  • CRPS/RSD can spread from the affected area to an area that wasn't previous affected
